An automatic watch requires an average of 600 turns per day (TPD) to maintain optimal power reserve. The older your watch is, the more daily turns it may require to stay fully wound. For a brand-new watch, approximately 500 turns per day is typically more than sufficient.
A watch winder keeps an automatic watch running by simulating the natural motion of the wrist. Inside the watch, a rotor spins with movement, winding the mainspring and maintaining power reserve.
The winder gently rotates the watch according to programmed Turns Per Day (TPD) and selected rotation direction (clockwise, counterclockwise, or bidirectional). Built-in rest cycles prevent overwinding while ensuring your timepiece stays accurate and ready to wear.

It's pretty and much quieter than the watch winder I was using before, so I'm satisfied.
